Global problems of humanity and its activities on the planet Earth forced the whole world to unite in order to find a planet suitable for human life. The star “Alpha Centauri S” was chosen, along with three exoplanets located in the habitable zone. The “New World” shuttle and its crew members use space travel to make an interstellar flight. Because of technical problems, they have to land the shuttle on the nearest planet. After exploring it, the crew members realize that the planet is suitable for human life. After a while they find a mysterious structure with abstract moving drawings. They decide to stay and explore the strange planetary structure…. From now on, the fate of the crew and all mankind is going to change.

Video stream started with the opening filled with spectacular videographics and accompanying sound. The name of the program «Technical science» was displayed in the end.

In a small make shift studio one could see a show presenter who was heavily built, had a bearded face, a chiseled nose and black eyebrows hanging over his blue eyes. He was dressed in a light knee-lengh white tunic, adorned with a variety of Eastern ornaments. There was a bright blue cap with yellow edge piping on his head. In the center of the cap there was a «Technical science» logo. A huge advanced space launcher complex «Babylon», built by ambitious architects, was seen in the background. The shuttle «New World» was towered over the launch site down the road from the facilities.

PAVEL KUSHILEV

– Hello! This is a program «Technical science». Today me and my team are located in Iraq at the space launcher complex «Babylon». We are waiting for the launch of the shuttle «New World» together with the whole planet.

An exoskeleton with tripod and stabilizing device which held a high-tech camera, a microphone, lighting equipment and a compact satellite antenna, was fixed on a dark haired Asian cameraman. A stoutish girl Elina was sitting at the small table with portable studio equipment. Her long bright red curly hair was put up and colorful fashion clothes made the girl feel more confident. Elina was applying effects and graphics onto the broadcast picture as well as displaying the advertising and replying viewers’ questions. The cameraman shifted the camera focus from Pavel to the center of a makeshift studio. A white-haired man of a middle age, dressed in a colorful suit with cosmic microwave background print, appeared in the frame.

PAVEL KUSHILEV

– I want to introduce my today’s guest Peter Pachus – expert in astrophysics, cosmology and quantum physics, writer, author of fifty scientific articles about the Universe, author of popular science programs about the space, Nobel prize winner in Physics for black energy particles discovery, black matter and derivation of the spatial displacement formula. Good day, Peter, and thank you for finding a place for our program in your tight schedule.

– Yes, indeed, the space launcher complex «Babylon» may be considered the tenth miracle of the world. It is built in association with the USA Space Agency (NASA), Russian Agency («Roscosmos»), Far East Agency (MESA) with the support of Chinese Agency (CNSA)and European Agency (ESA). There are hotels, restaurants, clubs, assembly rooms, parks, huge number of places of interest and museums in this space metropolis. Special attention is given to our young researchers. A whole Star City is built for them here. I am very happy that space agencies of many countries, as well as their governments, realized that for the further development of mankind it is necessary to go beyond the planet Earth, explore the space and look for the planets, suitable for human life.

– Fortunately, actual global problems of the world affected their understanding.

PETER PAKUS

– Exactly! Global problems have given impetus to the construction of the space launcher complex «Babylon», the International in-orbit satellite and the collider for spatial movements. Just imagine that 11 billion people already live on Earth.

If this trend continues, then by 2150 we will already have about 18 billion. Overpopulation of the globe and human activities have already begun their significant effect on the planet. Global climate change cannot be stopped. The temperature of the planet rises, and this, in turn, leads to the melting of Arctic ice, rising of sea levels and flooding of territories. The land also becoming less fertile. Food problems have affected every country on planet Earth. There’s no need to say about the ecological state of the planet, which is getting worse every year. You already know perfectly well: the ozone layer is depleting, animal species are declining as never before. There are more and more new types of viruses and bacteria. They provoke epidemics and diseases that are dangerous for the Earth's population. The horrible environment is connected with fresh water due to the spread of chemical and toxic substances. And deforestation has crossed all the borders. Since we have already started with global issues, I can’t get past the energy and natural resources which consumption is estimated in petawatts and millions of tons. And, of course, I have to say a few words about the urgent problem in the form of the global financial economy. This is an incomprehensible, tangled ball of thread that is unlikely to ever unravel.

Elina displayed videos, graphs, statistics and annual reports on modern global problems of mankind.

PAUL KUSHILEV

– Yes, Peter, I agree with you completely.

PETER PAKUS

– Science and technology are almost powerless here. Unfortunately or fortunately for all of the humanity. We left the only way out of this situation for ourselves – the search for a planet suitable for human life and the relocation of mankind there.

Paul listened with interest to statements of Peter Pachus.

PAUL KUSHILEV

– I cannot but note your contribution to space exploration. Thanks to your discovery, which allows you to move in outer space faster than the speed of light, we will be able to explore the nearest solar systems with their planets. Tell us, how spatial movement occurs in a less scientific language.

– Outer space as a whole is flexible and elastic in its structure, it can shrink into a singularity.

– The flexibility and elasticity of outer space is confirmed by the Albert Einstein’s general theory of relativity and the space mission of Gravity Probe B. By the way, particles of dark energy and particles of dark matter give elasticity to outer space. And then I realized that if the space vacuum is flexible, then it is possible to pull up or bend the desired area of outer space. For example, not to fly to the Moon for three days, as the Apollo and Luna-2035 ships did, but distort the space so that you can enter the window and instantly go into the orbit of our satellite. I took up this fantastic event.

After years of painstaking work, I, with the help of my colleagues from the University of Oxford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, managed to do this through specially developed super-technological equipment and many different research methods. We managed to prove the existence of dark energy particles and dark matter particles. Our Universe includes 68 % of dark energy, 27 % of dark matter and only 5 % of everything else – galaxies, stars, planets and everything that mankind knows. To put it simple, black energy is a broth where ingredients float in the form of a substance of black matter and particles in the form of you and me. As a result we get such a «universal soup.»

Elina displayed a snapshot of the visible Universe and a diagram with its composition. Pavel smiled as he liked the joke about the «universal soup.»

PETER PAKUS

– We took a cosmic vacuum, and using a particle accelerator, we separated the dark energy from all the impurities entering it, and received pure dark energy. Holding dark energy in the accelerator, we directed particles of energy to a particular area of outer space. In the area where we directed particles of pure dark energy, opened a window of a collider size. Particles of dark energy came into contact with substances located in this area and stuck them to themselves. Remembering the information, they instantly transferred it to the collider. Thus, the region of outer space was bent and attracted, opening a window for spatial movement.

Elina created a 3D model of the collider and showed the viewers how the spatial movement occurs.

– Peter, what you’ve just said is incredible.

– Everything happens at a level comparable to 10–55 degrees, not amenable to any logic. – This is amazing. We were a little distracted, and I would like to remind you my first question about the mission of the «New World» shuttle. What are its goals and objectives?

PETER PAKUS

– Our innovative «New World» shuttle will be launched from the space launcher complex «Babylon». Having entered outer space, it will head to the international orbiting satellite and the space collider. Using the collider, we will send the shuttle to the yellow dwarf star system called «Alpha Centauri S».

This system is similar to our Solar one, only three exoplanets are located in the inhabited zone of the star at once, which increases our chances of finding a planet suitable for human life. To search for it, six reconnaissance drones are located in the cargo compartment of the shuttle. They will be sent to study the atmosphere and landscape of the planets.

Having discovered a planet suitable for life, astronauts will be transferred to small jet vessels and go down to take samples to see for themselves whether it is suitable for the settlement. We will restart the collider 30 days later and, using spatial movement, our shuttle will return to the planet Earth with samples for a more detailed study of them. I hope that by 2090 humanity will nevertheless begin to populate a new planet and you and I will begin to live as in science fiction novels and films.

– How far is the solar system «Alpha Centauri S»?

– It is located in the Southern Cross constellation in the distance of 1,67 light year from us.

– Is the spatial movement safe?

PETER PAKUS

– Yes, after conducting numerous tests, we were convinced of the safety of spatial movements both at the entrance and at the exit. I would also like to add that before our heroes take such a long journey, we thoroughly studied this solar system and made sure of its viability.

Elina displayed the data and a brief summary of the «New World» shuttle for the audience.

PETER PAKUS

– It was created jointly by NASA, Roscosmos, CNSA, ESA. At the moment it is the most technical and innovative machine in the world. It is made using graphene material and it is extremely durable, lightweight and, most importantly, protects our crew from all types of radiation and adverse environmental conditions. Its length is 120 meters from the bow to the end of the engines. The diameter is about 12.5 meters, while its mass is just over 3,000 tons. It has three residential floors. At the first level are the personal cabins of all crew members as well as the reactor. On the second level there is a common kitchen, entertainment and sports compartments, a medical compartment and laboratories for exploring New Worlds. At the third level there is a cockpit, storage and cargo space. In the cargo compartment there is a couple of air jets and equipment for exploring New Worlds. Our crew will be helped by an extremely powerful FilPC computer.

Elina displayed a short video about the FilPC computer. It was a frameless one-in-one PC with stereo vision systems and lidars hidden inside the case for interaction with the outside world.

PAUL KUSHILEV

– Yes, this is a true supercomputer.

PETER PAKUS

– I completely agree with you, Pavel. FilPC is equipped with an atomic battery, artificial intelligence, which can be trained in the process of interaction and conduct live communication with our astronauts. It is also equipped with a high-definition screen, has tremendous computing power and high-end stereo vision and sound. FilPC has its own Internet with 1024 terabytes of information and a search engine. It can independently move in zero gravity. Yes, it really lacks a cybernetic body, and it could capture the worlds if desired. This is probably why its creators from China, the USA and Russia, having seen enough of the films, put FilPC in a harmless all-in-one PC.

– The crew commander is 53-year-old Terry Taylor. U.S. military pilot, lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Air Force and NASA astronaut engineer. He participated in the construction of the International Orbital Satellite and Collider for spatial movement. Record holder – 1561 days in orbit.

A photograph of Igor Vladimirovich, a bald, chubby, medium-sized man with a large forehead, brown eyes, a large flat nose and puffy lips, appeared on the screen.

– The co-pilot is Guard Colonel Igor Vladimirovich Tkachenko, 51-year-old military pilot from the Russian Federation. Cosmonaut of the Russian Federation. He has numerous state awards, and he is the current world champion in aerial aerobatics.

Two photos appeared on the screen. One of them depicted an Asian man named Zhou Siyu, who had a fancy hairstyle, green eyes and a powerful pointed chin. The second photograph showed a chubby faced Asian woman. Her short hair was dyed pink from the inside and blond from the outside. Brown eyes were accentuated by a brow with a bent and with a sharp little nose. The girl's name was Zhou Qunfei.

– Researchers and taikonauts from China: 28-year-old brother and sister Zhou Qunfei and Siyu. Both graduated with honors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and have doctorates in astronomy, engineering, physics, and biology. The next photo showed a woman of European appearance, with long black hair, gray-green eyes, chic plump lips and a perfect snow-white smile. Her name was Anita Lewis.

– 35-year-old British woman, ESA astronaut Anita Lewis is responsible for the health of crew members. She is a medical science professor at the University of Cambridge, UK.

A photo of a black African-American appeared on the screen. He had curly black hair, dark expressive eyes, a thick nose and puffy lips. His face was adorned with a neatly tucked mustache, turning into a beard.

PAUL KUSHILEV

– Our geologist, ESA astronaut, payload specialist, originally from Nigeria, is 38-year-old Jase Adesenya. By the age of 28 he conquered all 14 peaks eight thousanders on planet Earth and set a new high-speed record of climbing to their peaks. Now it is 5 years and 8 months.

The following photo showed a slender sophisticated girl of Tatar nationality with an oval face, long light brown hair, expressive gray-blue eyes, which were emphasized by elongated cilia. A neat, pointed nose went well with beautiful cheekbones turning into slightly puffy lips.

PAUL KUSHILEV

– Team psychologist and part-time linguist to establish contact with an extraterrestrial life form is 35-year-old Anastasia Gradeckaya from the Russian Federation. She is a professor of psychology and linguistics at Moscow State Technological University named after N.E. Bauman.

Paul turned to his guest, Peter Pakus.

– Peter, what can you say about the shuttle crew «New light»?

PETER PAKUS

– The crew is wonderful! A great combination of science, engineering and humanities. I am sure that our crew is not afraid of any difficulties if, of course, they don’t meet «strangers» there.

Peter and Paul smiled.

PAUL KUSHILEV

– Great, Peter! Thank you for being able to find a few minutes for us and our viewers.

The operator moved the camera angle from the general plan to Paul and with a movement of his hand showed him when to start the speech.

PAUL KUSHILEV

– We have less than 10 minutes left before the start of the shuttle «New World». After a short advertisement, we will continue direct inclusion from the «Babylon» space launching complex.

Following Paul’s words, Elina launched sponsorship trailers and commercials. Pavel, cameraman Ilya and Elina took some photos with Peter Pakus and thanked him for the visit. After Peter's departure, they drank some water and discussed among themselves the small details of today's broadcast. The commercial came to an end and their makeshift studio continued its work.




Spaceport Babylon. The Control Center flight


The Flight Control Center was located away from hotels, restaurants, amusement parks, surrounded by water channels with a patterned bottom. The FCC building resembled an antique palace with massive doors and high towers standing nearby. All this beauty was covered with a golden dome. Inside the building there was a modern, innovative room, equipped with comfortable workstations with monitors and ultra-high-definition screens, which had huge computing power. Sitting at their computers, a team led by Rich Rudiger conducted pre-launch checks.

Rich and his team were dressed in a classic style. The emblem of the «Babylon» space launching complex was flaunted on white shirts on the left side. A headset was attached to the neck of each employee. The actions of Rich Rudiger and his team were watched by the political elite from the developed countries. There were experts and scientists in the field of cosmology, astronomy, theoretical physics as well as popular celebrities, Internet and TV celebrities. They were drinking, talking and following the action with interest.

In the center of the hall there were huge screens which were divided into several windows. There was a countdown to the start up above. In one of the windows, the FCC employees observed the launch pad and orbital launcher. The «New World» shuttle with its massive fuel tank and solid fuel boosters were mounted on the orbital launcher.

In the upper windows of the screen, the FCC team observed the flight deck. In it, the shuttle crew was fastened to their seats and dressed in light tight-fitting gray spacesuits with red stripes. Everyone was in a good mood, astronauts communicated with each other and with the FCC. Terry Taylor took the crew commander’s seat and Igor Vladimirovich sat next to him in the co-pilot’s chair. Specialist chairs were occupied by brother and sister Zhou, Anita Lewis, Jasse Adesenya and Anastasia Gradetskaya.

RICH RUDIGER

– Terry, five minutes stand-by, switch to power from the on-board systems. Do you copy?

Terry, hearing Rich's voice, smiled even more.

TERRY TAYLOR

– Roger that, I’m switching to power from on-board systems.

Terry and Igor performed step-by-step operations on the dashboard, consisting of numerous screens, buttons and control devices, to switch the shuttle system to the on-board power supply.

TERRY TAYLOR

– FCC, the shuttle moved to the on-board power supply.

RICH RUDIGER

– «New World», roger that.

Milena Ti-Molis, who monitored the health of the astronauts in terms of instrumentation, asked Rich to approach her. He immediately approached his employee. She showed him the rapid heartbeat of Anastasia Gradetskaya. Rich switched the communication channel to a dedicated line.

RICH RUDIGER

– Terry, come in.

Terry and Igor checked control systems, navigation, guidance and a whole range of instruments of the orbital ship. They also checked their on-board computer and worked out the sequence of their actions at startup.

TERRY TAYLOR

– Come in.

RICH RUDIGER

– Anastasia has a fast heartbeat, a pulse of up to two hundred beats per minute, try to calm her. Terry was quite surprised.

Terry was very surprised.

TERRY TAYLOR

– Roger that.

Igor noticed Terry.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Did something happen?

TERRY TAYLOR

– Rich said Anastasia had a fast heartbeat.

Terry and Igor cast their eyes on Anastasia. She was sitting silently and was thinking about something. They tried to understand the cause of her concern.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– I’m nervous too, like the others.

TERRY TAYLOR

– We were asked to calm her down.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– She looks calm, I don’t know where they got all these indications from. Now let's figure it out.

Anastasia was sitting silently fastened to her chair. She examined the shuttle, her team and didn’t show nervousness.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Nastya!

Anastasia noticed Igor.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Yes.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– You all okay?

Anastasia was thrilled and greatly impressed by her presence in the shuttle. She thought about the upcoming mission, what awaits them and how it would all end. Whether they meet extraterrestrial civilization, whether the launch of the shuttle take place without technical problems and how the spatial displacement will take place. Imagination and negative thoughts came up with all possible plot twists.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Yes, it’s alright.

Confusion and fear raged in her soul.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– You're a linguist?

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Yes, why?

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Do you know elven or Klingon?

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Why are you asking such questions?

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Terry and I argued how many languages do you know?

Terry, smiling, looked at Igor, then at Anastasia. The conversation between Igor and Anastasia attracted the attention of the rest of the crew.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– And what did you bet on?

TERRY TAYLOR

– Yes, remind me what did we bet on?

Igor hesitated a bit and was lost in thought.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– In case of my victory, Terry at the end of our mission takes us all to the Asian restaurant «Red Dragon». It’s located in «Babylon». By the way, they serve excellent noodles with teriyaki sauce as well as seafood in ginger marinade.

Laughing, Igor looked at Terry. The captain was clearly surprised to learn that in case of loss, he takes everyone to the Asian restaurant. The rest of the crew looked at each other and smiled.

TERRY TAYLOR

– And if I win, Igor buys a good pair of sneakers for everyone.

Igor made a surprised face.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Really?

TERRY TAYLOR

– A bet is a bet.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Your disputes are strange. Well, all right, in general, I know 12 languages, including Elven, Krypton, Klingon, and even studied the language of Heptapods.

Having heard Anastasia’s reply, Igor and Terry both said at the same time.

Anastasia and all the crew members laughed. Nastya's nervous tension began to subside.

The team drew attention to Terry. With all his looks and actions, he showed that the situation is under control.

– Great, then tell me how it all ended and who won the piece of stone from another planet. No matter how painful it is to admit, your and Igor’s methods of stabilizing nervous tension do work, the overall crew performance is within the acceptable range.

The FCC team along with its leader completed the final stages of the prelaunch preparation.

TERRY TAYLOR

– How long do we have to sit here? Launch us, I’m longing to explore new planets. We have checked and double-checked everything ten times already.

Igor raised his thumb up and nodded his head in support of the words spoken by Terry. There was silence on the air, the ship's commander was waiting for a response from Rich.

Rich Rudiger went to his workplace, where the whole hall and staff of his team were visible as well as the main screens with windows. Behind him stood a large delegation overseeing his work and the actions of his staff. He took a deep breath and spoke in an undertone.

RICH RUDIGER

– May the fun begin! Cybersecurity and security!

Rich was looking in the direction of Eric Newman and Peter Kushnirenko, who were responsible for internal and external security as well as for the work of all computer systems.

ERIC NEWMAN

– The internal network is clean, no cyber-attacks were detected, computing power is at its maximum, I give permission to the start.

PETER KUSHNIRENKO

– Security gives permission to start.

RICH RUDIGER

– The Communications Service?

Sheila Lopez and Chase Silverman were responsible for the communication between the FCC and the «New World».

Using their touch screens, Evan Rochester and Anton Chistikov performed the engines starting procedure and fuel supply to the combustion chamber of solid boosters. Terry and Igor at the same time were ready to start the auxiliary engines of the shuttle.

Music, car, and costume festivals were organized for a large amount of people in the desert with the participation of famous DJs and popular singers. They were watching the launch from afar on huge installed screens.

Terry and Igor began to reduce the roll of the aircraft and put it into the orbit of the International Orbiting Satellite. At the same time, the planet Earth and the outer space surrounding it appeared in the frontal porthole.

There were numerous branches with modules and giant solar panels attached to them, coming out of the station. A space collider flew in its orbit near the International Orbital Satellite. It was connected to the IOS by numerous wires.

– How many days did you spend on IOS, while you were building it and collider?

– More than 4 years.

I don’t even know how I didn’t lose my mind from such a long stay in orbit.

Terry and Igor smiled at each other.

Zhou Siyu was sitting in the flight specialist’s chair at the aft control panel, display, and shuttle controls.

The commander of the ship pulled the lever along the axes once in a while and waited time. Equipment for spatial movement appeared in the frontal panoramic window of the shuttle, and crew members were watching its movement along the window. After waiting for the registering, the astronaut on his dashboard turned on automatic trajectory support and autopilot.

Terry and Igor were holding hands near shunting levers and were watching devices. Having waited for a few seconds and making sure in trajectory sustainability, they looked at each other and smiled. Igor raised his thumb up and with a nod of his head paid tribute to his captain for a well-done maneuver.

– Yes, of course, I know this shuttle perfectly well.

Igor smiled, turned around easily and flew out of the cockpit in the direction of the transition between levels. Having flown the second level, he flew at speed to the first level of the space shuttle and moved towards his cabin. On the left of the door, there was a hand recognition scanner, a door unlocking and a button to automatically open the door. The cabin automatically recognized its owner and opened the door for him. Igor flew into his miniature room and the light immediately was turned on.

The room had a semi-double bed with clips for sleeping in zero gravity, above the bed there were numerous closed shelves and lockers with personal belongings. Near the berth there was a desk with a built-in touch screen and a work surface. The lockers with personal items were over the table. The cabin had a personal shower, a toilet as well as special equipment for washing clothes and air conditioning.

Igor took his personal on-board tablet, went into the application to communicate with his family, and waited for a connection with them. On the screen appeared his 17-year-old daughter Julia, 14-year-old son Daniel and his wife, Marina Tkachenko – a pleasant overweight brunette with touching face. They were in the in the meeting room of FCC. The room was modestly furnished with space-themed paintings on the walls. The Tkachenkos were sitting on the couch and were glad to see their hero.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Hello, my dear.

Julia and Daniel greeted their dad. Marina was sitting modestly and decently next to the children, and also greeted her beloved husband.

– Dad, don't forget to bring me a souvenir from another planet.

The management wanted to have two Russian cosmonauts on board of the shuttle, as this would increase the prestige of our country. After a short meeting Sergei Antonovich led me to introduce Igor Vladimirovich. Then Igor came up to me and looked at me with an appraising look.

Anastasia Gradeckaya frowned and put on deep voice.

– Hi, my name is Igor Vladimirovich. I’m your mentor and will prepare you for the flight in orbit. From your personal files, I know that you are a professor of psychology and linguistics at Moscow State Technological University named after N.E. Bauman. Perhaps, these skills will be useful to you on the Earth, but not in space. So don’t expect pity from me. Neither I’m going to see your tears during the training! If you don’t like it, the four doors on the first floor are always open.

Terry turned to Anastasia.

– FCC team! I’m announcing a three-minute preparation for the start of spatial displacement.

In a separate room of the FCC, where the high society and guest stars were located, after the announcement of a three-minute readiness, the eyes of all gathered guests turned to the huge central screen of the FCC. Television and Internet broadcasts started gaining viewers massively.

Rich's colleagues set aside their personal affairs as well as fast food and drinks. They began to prepare for the next phase of the «New World» mission. The excitement and tension in the FCC had been growing with every second. Rich switched the communication channel to the International Orbiting Satellite.

Indian astronaut Sadhir Bin Osman, Russian astronaut Ruslan Nikolayevich, British astronaut Andrew Scott and Charlie Holond from the United States of America sat in one of the IOS residential modules at the monitors and computers. They were getting ready to launch equipment for spatial movement.

– Charlie, the «New World» shuttle is ready for spatial displacement. I give permission to run the collider.

Charlie Holland began to lead his colleagues, preparing IOS for the launch of the collider. Ruslan Nikolaevich and Sudhir Bin Osman activated huge solar panels and aligned them in the direction of the Sun. A minute later, a dark substance began to grow from the edge of the structure to the center. Another minute passed, and the dark substance merged in the center and took a stable etheric form.

– Pure dark energy received.

ANDREW SCOTT

Applause was heard at the FCC. Billions of viewers watched the launch of the collider and the creation of pure dark energy. Charlie Holland introduced the coordinates of the solar system «Alpha Centauri S» on his 3D model of the Universe. With the help of shunting engines the collider made an adjustment. Rich turned to the VIP box side and looked for Peter Pachus. Their eyes met and Peter Pachus nodded his head.

Charlie said a prayer and pressed the «Shift» button on his touch screen. The shuttle team was watching while the viscous substance froze. After some time, the crew of the shuttle could observe the distorted projection of the yellow star «Alpha Centauri S» and one of the exoplanets, as well as the outer space surrounding them. The objects were extended in width, length and connected in the center.

– That's crazy! Rich, do you see it?

RICH RUDIGER

– Yes.

Billions of people, watching the creation of a tunnel for spatial movement, were stunned by what they saw.

CHARLIE HOLLAND

– Indicators?

ANDREW SCOTT

– Normal.

CHARLIE HOLLAND

– FCC, this is IOS. The spatial tunnel is stable, you can launch the shuttle. Wish the team a great journey from us.

RICH RUDIGER

Rich switched the communication channel from IOS to the shuttle.

– The spatial tunnel is open, MCC and MOS give the permission for entry.

The crew was observing with excitement the formation of the spatial tunnel in front of them.

TERRY TAYLOR

– Yes, I’ve already understood that it is open. Got you, FCC, we are starting the entrance.

Terry pushed forward the thrust levers of the main engines of the shuttle and the ship slowly moved towards the spatial tunnel. His actions were watched by workers and guests of the FCC, astronauts of the International Space Agency, guests of the «Babylon» space launching complex and billions of people around the globe. The captain looked at the distance to the entrance. It was slowly contracting and stepped over a mark of 100 meters.

TERRY TAYLOR

– The team is ready to shift!

Astronauts tried to hide their nervousness, but confusion and fear of the unknown were visible on their faces.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– God bless us all!

TERRY TAYLOR

– FCC, we’ll meet in 30 days.

RICH RUDIGER

– Have a good journey and God bless you!

Terry pulled the levers forward and the shuttle speeded off. Entering the tunnel, the shuttle instantly disappeared from screens and monitors. The world was briefly shocked by what was happening. Seconds later people, who were watching the broadcast around the world, celebrated a new step in the conquest of interstellar space. An enchanting, festive mood reigned in the FCC. FCC employees, high society, investors, guest stars lit cigars and opened champagne. Astronauts and Charlie Holland's team congratulated each other at IOS. Rich switched the communication channel to IOS.

RICH RUDIGER

– IOS, come in!

CHARLIE HOLLAND

– IOS receiving.

RICH RUDIGER

– Disconnect the collider, prepare it for the return of the shuttle.

Passing through the spatial tunnel, Terry and his team watched as the head and cockpit of the ship stretched into the distance. The captain glanced at his hands, holding the steering wheel and traction levers – they also extended in length, like his whole body. He felt a wild and violent heaviness throughout the whole organism and thought about telling Igor Vladimirovich about this, but his consciousness fell into darkness, as did the consciousness of the whole crew.




Star system «Alpha Centaur S». 1.67 light year from the Earth


An active white-yellow star was producing thermonuclear reactions, during which hydrogen was transformed into helium. In this case, energy was released, giving light and heat. On the surface of the star, plasma substance was mixed, sunspots were forming and prominences were erupting. Fountains of hot gas and energy eruptions of ionized particles went into space at great speed and formed a solar wind. The solar system had many diverse solid planets, small planetoids and gas giants. In the inhabited zone of the Star there were three exoplanets closely spaced to each other.

At a distance of 160 million kilometers from the Star, a small planet was moving in its orbit, having the color shades of turquoise, azure and pale pink. There was interspersed dry land of green-blue, green-violet and red-green colors on the planet.

At 423 thousand kilometers from the exoplanet a small black spherical base was formed. The «New World» shuttle was thrown from it at a tremendous speed. It was de-energized and it rotated around its axis. It was moving towards a multicolored planet. Igor Vladimirovich was the first to wake up on board the ship. His consciousness, like his body, began to recover after spatial displacement. The man immediately felt a wild aching headache. Overcoming the pain, the astronaut looked at Terry Taylor sitting next to him. He was unconscious. Igor shook his shoulder and muttered with difficulty.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Terry, Terry, wake up.

A severe aching headache gave no peace. Writhing from excruciating sensations, the astronaut continued to wake Terry. He raised his voice and tried to bring the captain to life.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Terry, Terry, wake up!

The man turned back and examined the crew. All of them were fastened to their seats, but were in an unconscious state, their limbs were floating in the air. The aching headache began to subside, which gave Igor the opportunity to orient and concentrate. He examined aerobatic instruments and shuttle controls: they were de-energized. The astronaut touched the screens and monitors, but they didn’t show activation signs. His gaze periodically fell on a multicolored planet, which with each appearance in the frontal window became larger and sharper. Igor once again patted Terry's shoulder and said loudly.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Terry! Terry, wake up! Fuck!

Terry remained unconscious. The astronaut heard a moaning female voice. He immediately turned around and saw Anastasia, who woke up and was touching her head with her hands and was groaning in pain.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Oh, my gosh, my head is going to explode.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Nastya, be patient, the pain will soon pass.

Nastya muttered plaintively and inaudibly aloud. She lowered her hands and saw Igor Vladimirovich peeking from his chair.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Hold on, my dear, it'll pass.

Anastasia was twisting with pain and was looking around.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Igor, what happened to us and why is our shuttle rotating so fast?

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

Igor Vladimirovich turned to Anastasia.

– Nastya, listen to me, we don’t have time to bring our team to life. I tried to wake Terry, but all in vain, so we will deal on our own.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Okay, I understand. What do I have to do?

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– You have to unfasten Terry and move him to his place. Then you will take the place of the second pilot, and I will fly to the power unit. The fuses may have tripped and the ship has been disconnected.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Good girl.

Igor unfastened himself from the chair and flew up to the bag with the inscription FilPC. He took the device from the case and launched an operating system on it. The computer booted up and the intelligent assistant appeared on the screen.

FilPC

– Hello, Igor. How can I help you?

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Hi, FilPC, I need you to light my way to the power unit of our shuttle.

FilPC

– Have you got any problems?

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Yes, our shuttle is de-energized, it is rotating around its axis and, according to my calculations, if we don’t establish energy supply, we will crash into one of the planets with great speed.

The furry animal immediately changed into a military uniform.

FilPC

– If our shuttle is de-energized, I think the fuses of our reactor have tripped, and perhaps, we should start by checking the power unit.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Yes, I thought about that too, so make a track.

FilPC

– Right.

A shuttle map appeared on the screen of the monoblock, indicating the location of the power unit. Igor drew attention to Anastasi. She was moving the unconscious commander of the ship. His body was floating in zero gravity.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Anastasia, we are gone.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Good.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– You will succeed.

He winked at Anastasia, she answered him with a smile. Nastya didn’t hesitate. She put Terry in her specialist chair and fastened him with straps. After making sure that he was securely fastened, she secured herself with belts on the second pilot’s place and was waiting for Igor Vladimirovich. In the frontal panoramic porthole, she was watching the alternating appearance of the star «Alpha Centauri S» and the multicolored planet, getting larger and larger with each turn.

Together with FilPC, illuminating the corridors and decks of the shuttle, Igor moved to the power unit. They flew into the dark transition between levels and moved down all the way. Having flown to the first level, they continued to move through the corridors until FilPC lit a massive door with a painted sign of radiative chemical hazard.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Well done, FilPC!

FilPC

– I'm happy to help you. I was created for this.

Igor examined the de-energized door control panel and tried to open it manually. He pulled the handle, but the door didn’t give in.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– I can’t open it manually, FilPC. Can you do anything?

Having flown up to the door control panel, FilPC pulled wires from its housing and connected them to the panel.

FilPC

– Let's see.

In less than a minute the astronaut and the intellectual assistant opened the door and flew into a small room. In the foreground they saw an inactive control panel, which had to monitor the state of an atomic reactor. An atomic reactor was in the background. It was in a protected radiative capsule filled with coolant. Thick insulating wires came from the capsule and they were connected to the control panel. Igor put his hand onto the dashboard scanner, but the scanner didn’t respond.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Everything seems to be out of order. To be honest, I'm confused. So how do we start the reactor now? Any suggestions, FilPC?

FilPC

– It’s good that you’ve got me.

The furry animal instantly changed its military overalls to jeans and a plaid shirt. A small suitcase appeared in its hands. An intelligent assistant flew up to the control panel. Wires came out of its case and it easily connected to the panel.

FilPC

– Let's see what happened to our shuttle.

He directed part of his energy to the panel, went into its system files and ran diagnostics in order to troubleshoot.

FilPC

– Yes, indeed, the fuses in the reactor and throughout the ship tripped. After starting all the systems, I will carry out a complete diagnosis and can tell you exactly why the fuses tripped.

A monotonous dull sound appeared in the room, signifying the start of the atomic reactor. The dashboard responsible for the power unit started booting…

FilPC instantly changed into a tuxedo and turned on the music. It launched an animation on its screen, where crowds of viewers and camera flashes greeted it, while it was walking along the red carpet. It greeted its fans with a smile and signed autographs. Igor, seeing the animation, could not restrain himself and also patted it. The shuttle began to perk up, the lighting and illumination on the ship gradually turned on. The life support system began to work with renewed vigor. Operating systems were loading on all monitors and screens of the ship.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Great, it changes everything.

Igor flew to the power unit door.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– FilPC, are you going?

FilPC

– I will stay here and carry out diagnostics for errors and possible failures in the power system.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– This is right, okay. Do your business, baby.

The astronaut flew in a hurry through the illuminated corridors of the ship into the cockpit. Having flown into the cockpit, he saw that Nastya had done exactly what he asked. The man felt a slight relief from the fact that he would not have to spend precious time on unnecessary actions. Dashboards, screens and monitors started up and were performing system diagnostics. Igor began to settle down in the place of the commander of the ship.

The shuttle made a revolution, and Igor Vladimirovich could see through the frontal porthole how a colored planet filled almost the entire panoramic windshield. They could make out the uneven outlines of the multicolored islands. There was a visible vegetation of green-blue, green-purple and red-green shades on them. The islands were washed with a liquid of turquoise, azure and pale pink shades.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– What a beauty!

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– The planet looks like a paradise, and it seems to me that it is very suitable for life.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Perhaps, but first we need to stop the rotation or, at least, try not to crash.

The shuttle made a revolution, and the planet disappeared from the view of the astronauts. Igor and Nastya examined the dashboard of the shuttle. On-board computer displayed incomprehensible data and indications, as well as interference on monitors and screens.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– What the hell is going on?

The astronaut was trying to fix the on-board computer and restart the system, to turn off the autopilot and to take control. Igor was pulling the levers responsible for maneuvering, but the on-board computer and the shuttle didn’t give a backlash.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– This is nonsense, nothing works.

He tried to workaround the shuttle automation in various ways and to start the shunting engines, but all his efforts were in vain. The astronaut has established a connection with FilPC.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– FilPC, FilPC, this is Igor.

FilPC was connected to the dashboard of the power unit and was scanning its system for detection and elimination of errors.

FilPC

– Receiving.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– It seems that the on-board computer is out of order as well as the control of the shuttle. Nothing is working.

FilPC

– Give me 2 hours and I will reinstall the ship's on-board computer.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– We don’t have two hours. We are going straight to the planet, and if we do not figure out how to stop the rotation, then we will all have a tragic ending.

FilPC

– I can workaround the on-board computer and give the shuttle control to you.

Igor scrolled through all the possible scenarios in his head.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Listen, why don't you take control of the shuttle yourself, you're a supercomputer.

FilPC

– Yes, it is possible, but all my resources are aimed at eliminating errors in the power unit. If I don’t finish the test, the shutdown incident may happen again.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

Igor Vladimirovich looked at Anastasia.

– Nastya.

Anastasia looked at Igor.

The astronaut slowly and accurately aligned the shuttle on the horizon of the planet and stopped its rotation. Without the support of maneuvering engines the shuttle's head was tilting down.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Damn, it seems we got into the gravitational field of the planet.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– Maybe we should break out of its gravitation and try to stay in orbit?

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– It is a good idea.

The man tried to start the main thrust engines. But they didn’t start.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– Engines aren’t starting. FilPC, FilPC, we need to start the main engines.

A few seconds later he replied.

FilPC

– The main engines will start when I finish checking all systems and restore the on-board computer.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– And we have to wait about two hours.

FilPC

– Yes.

Anastasia was looking at Igor with excitement.

ANASTASIA GRADECKAYA

– What are we going to do?

Igor thought about it and replied after a short silence.

IGOR VLADIMIROVICH

– We will try to land the shuttle on the planet. Let's hope that it is suitable for humans.
