Teaching Literature Through Coaching

This article reviews stereotypes and beliefs which prevent the teenagers from feeling safe tohave their own opinion and express themselves when reading fiction inthe course ofliterature. Coaching allows acompletely different approach: not only just ask questions (teachers ofliterature always do it) but perceive students as ready made readers who have their own reading preferences, circumstances for reading, ways ofanalysis and interpretation offiction as well as students own manner ofreading out loud or retell byheart. When the focus ofattention is changed inthis way, we notice new resources inusual kinds ofactivities, ways ofanalysis and fiction itself, which is included inthe curriculum.
